SAS CFO Magnus Örnberg leaves SAS

Published on March 24, 2022

SAS Executive Vice President and CFO, Magnus Örnberg announced that he will leave SAS in the spring of 2022.

“I want to thank Magnus for his great efforts for SAS. I regret that Magnus chooses to leave and wish him well on his future endeavours”, says Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS.

SAS has had major challenges in the pandemic, and the relatively newly appointed CEO Anko van der Werff announced in October that the airline was struggling to survive.

SAS has come up with a savings program where they plan to cut annual costs by NOK 7.5 billion. The SAS share has weakened over 50 percent on the Oslo Stock Exchange in one year, and 27 percent down so far in 2022.

“This has been one of the most interesting jobs I have ever had, and I am grateful to have been a part of this important and exciting business. It has not been an easy decision to leave such a stimulating environment, and an absolutely fantastic team ", says Magnus Örnberg, CFO of SAS.

Magnus will remain in his current role to ensure a smooth transition and SAS has started the prompt recruitment of his successor.
