JetZero has announced the appointment of Julie Felgar as its new Head of Government Affairs, where she will oversee federal, state, and local government relations, as well as community affairs. Felgar brings extensive expertise in aviation and aerospace policy, both within the United States and internationally.
Prior to joining JetZero, Felgar served as Managing Director of Environment Strategy and Integration at Boeing Commercial Airplanes. In this role, she led efforts to integrate environmental goals into policy, working to prepare the aviation industry for sustainable growth. Her career also includes leadership development and marketing roles, having served as a Senior Advisor at the McChrystal Group and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Commenting on her new role, Felgar expressed enthusiasm for JetZero’s innovative approach to aviation. “JetZero is revolutionizing air travel with its blended wing airplane, bringing thousands of jobs and a significant boost to U.S. aerospace exports,” she said. “This aircraft will be significantly more cost-effective to operate, provide an enhanced passenger experience, and reduce emissions. It is an honor to be part of a company introducing a new paradigm in aviation through design and production innovation.”
JetZero’s flagship aircraft, the Z4, is set to be produced in the United States, delivering economic growth and reinforcing the country’s leadership in industrialization, innovation, and exports. The company estimates that the economic value generated by the Z4 for airlines, airports, and regional economies will be in the trillions of U.S. dollars.
The Z4’s blended wing design represents a significant shift from traditional tube-and-wing aircraft. Unlike conventional designs, where lift is primarily generated by the wings, the Z4’s entire body contributes to lift, potentially reducing fuel consumption by up to 50% per flight. Additionally, with engines mounted on the upper rear fuselage, airport communities will benefit from a reduced noise footprint. Designed to accommodate 200 to 290 passengers with a range of 5,000 nautical miles, the Z4 addresses a mid-market segment currently underserved by established airframe manufacturers.
JetZero also envisions military applications for the Z4, including tanker and transport variants to support U.S. and allied defense operations. Given that cargo, tanker, and non-stealth bomber aircraft account for roughly 60% of the U.S. Air Force’s annual jet fuel consumption, the Z4’s enhanced fuel efficiency and extended range could significantly bolster operational capabilities, increasing fuel offload capacity and time on station.
With Felgar at the helm of government affairs, JetZero aims to strengthen its engagement with policymakers and industry stakeholders as it pushes forward with its transformative vision for the future of aviation.
