This is a hybrid Full time role in Ottawa, ON Canada.
Position Summary
The position is for a Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer who will be operating in a multi-national team environment. The position involves the design and support of microprocessor-based circuit boards and system level designs meeting strict physical security requirements. The scope of the projects is from design concept to production end of life.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Review and comment on Functional Requirements and concept documents.
• Work with the Product Management and other engineering teams to refine the requirements.
• Select the components to meet the requirements based on performance, availability, cost, environmental concerns.
• Implement the digital and analog circuitry required to fulfill the requirements. Complete the schematic with estimated power and area analysis, and layout guidelines.
• Review PCB layout to ensure all guidelines, DFM, ICT recommendations have been completed.
• Prototypes bring up and testing of all system components. Support other development teams during the product integration.
Basic Qualifications
• B.Sc. or B. Eng in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 15 years of embedded microprocessor-based system design expertise from concept to product End-of-Life.
• Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of high-level hardware board and system level design.
- Trade off analysis of cost, area, power
- Security and regulatory compliance
- ECO friendly design practices
• Proficient at detailed digital and analog design implementation, signal integrity, and PCB layout of complex multilayer printed circuit boards
- Knowledge of microprocessors, DDR DRAM, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, and PSU design are required.
• Hands-on experience debugging and verification using in circuit emulators, scopes, logic analyzers, bus analyzers.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Special Position Requirements
Schedule: Monday through Friday; Core Business Hours Monday-Friday
Physical Environment: Office, HW lab
