We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist to join our Data Science team at Breeze Airways. As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in leveraging data to solve complex business problems, enhance guest experience, and optimize airline operations. You will collaborate cross-functionally to build predictive models, deliver actionable insights, and influence strategic decisions.
Here's what you'll do
- Analyze large and complex data sets to extract actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making across the business.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models and statistical algorithms for predictive and prescriptive analytics (e.g., demand forecasting, ancillary revenue optimization, and optimizing guest experience).
- Clean, preprocess, and wrangle structured and unstructured data to ensure quality, completeness, and usability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations, etc.) to define problem statements, hypotheses, and measurable success criteria.
- Design and conduct experiments (e.g., A/B testing) to validate hypotheses, measure business impact, and refine models.
- Communicate findings and model results clearly to stakeholders through compelling reports, presentations, and data visualizations.
- Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI to continuously enhance capabilities and deliver innovative solutions.
- Collaborate on code and model versioning, ensuring clean, reproducible, and efficient workflows using Git for version control.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security policies in all projects and analyses.
Here's what you'll need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Strong knowledge of data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Experience building and deploying machine learning models using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker).
- Strong knowledge of predictive modeling, classification, regression, and clustering techniques.
- High performance orientation with the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and a passion for delivering high-impact results
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience in the airline, travel, or e-commerce industry.
Skills/Talents
- Solid foundation in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for code collaboration and reproducibility.
- Understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and GenAI techniques for summarizing and extracting insights from text data
- Experience with data visualization tools like Shiny, Tableau , or PowerBI to communicate insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically about complex challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
