Job Description:
WE’RE LOOKING FOR A COMPOSITE LAYUP TECHNICIAN
POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE, ONTARIO
This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Composite Layup, The Layup Technician is responsible for manufacturing various composite parts. The composite layup technician fabricates parts by working part specific materials into specific molds using hands and small hand tools.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Production/Layup Expertise:
Fabricate parts using composite materials – pre-preg or wet layup processes.
Strong knowledge of composite lay-up techniques.
Perform moulding for composite parts using engineered resigns with the aid of small hand tools.
Fabricate parts by using Manufacturing Instruction Documents (MIDs) and production orders as guides.
Understanding of various production steps and processes.
Measure materials using basic metric measuring equipment.
Prepare parts for autoclave process through bagging techniques.
Keen awareness of the importance and impact their work has on downstream processes.
Rework composite part in order to correct small imperfections.
Report to lead hand recommendations for process improvements and provide explanations and demonstrations as required.
Departmental Involvement:
Foster health and safety in the workplace and knowledge of health and safety requirements.
Demonstrate standard work practices to ensure quality standards are met.
Ensure work areas and equipment are kept clean & neat (Work place OK).
Assist with work station set up.
Uphold Airbus Values.
Strive for continuous improvement in quality and performance.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
Knowledge of the operations processes.
Knowledge of small hand tools such as knives, hammers, wrenches, putty knives, heat guns, scissors, drills, measuring tape, etc.
Depth of knowledge of technical field.
Knowledge of quality requirements and how to effectively meet quality standards.
Team work focus.
Attention to detail.
Follow Manufacturing Instruction Documents and filling out all necessary paperwork.
Be able to use measuring instruments (template, scale, lasers).
Strong Communication Skills (Verbal & Written).
Service Minded.
Experience in aerospace industry preferred.
Organized Individual.
Good eye/hand coordination.
Work independently under general supervision.
