About the Job
Licensed Aircraft Engineers are responsible for the release of an aircraft or its components after maintenance, within the extent of their authorization. They issue the Aircraft Certificate of Release to Service accordingly. The Certified Staff (C/S) must be able to determine when an aircraft is ready for release to service and when it should not be released.
- Release the aircraft to service after the satisfactory completion of maintenance.
- Guide and support mechanics during the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Supervise maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations (repairs or modifications) performed by mechanics under their supervision, to the extent necessary to ensure proper execution.
- Use methods, techniques, and practices prescribed in the current manufacturer’s maintenance manual or the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, or other methods acceptable to the authority.
- Use tools, equipment, and test apparatus necessary to ensure the work is completed in accordance with accepted industry practices. If special equipment or test apparatus is recommended by the manufacturer, it must be used or substituted with an equivalent acceptable to the authority.
- Complete all required maintenance within the available maintenance downtime.
- Release maintenance documentation upon satisfactory completion of maintenance and ensure proper archiving of records.
- Record maintenance details or make precise references in the aircraft technical log system.
