Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented SMT Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating surface mount equipment, a working knowledge of printed circuit board assembly, and a strong understanding of solder paste application, component placement, reflow and cleaning. This role is critical to ensuring the efficiency and quality of our SMT line operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain SMT equipment including Mycronic and Novastar pick-and-place machines.
- Set up and run stencil or jet printer paste applications, understanding differences in methods and paste properties.
- Perform quality checks and in-process inspections at each stage of production to ensure compliance with IPC-610 standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to identify component polarity and placement requirements.
- Monitor scrap and rework rates, identifying potential component waste and reporting issues to technicians or supervisors.
- Perform routine machine changeovers, including changing feeders, splicing reels, and scanning components.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues related to pick-and-place machines, feeders, and solder paste application.
- Maintain clean and ESD-safe work areas, following proper ESD and FOD handling procedures.
- Collaborate with QC and materials departments to maintain inventory flow and address part shortages or line inefficiencies.
- Participate in preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep activities.
