Boeing is a leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems. The Boeing Vertical Lift Philadelphia facility (Ridley Park, PA) is situated along the Delaware River approximately 7 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 2 miles from the Philadelphia (PHL) international airport and minutes from both New Jersey and Delaware. This facility is home to the H-47 Chinook Helicopter and the V-22 Osprey Tiltrotor. These aircraft are designed, manufactured and tested at the Philadelphia site and are delivered to both US military and international customers. There are approximately 3,500 people employed at this Boeing site. The Philadelphia Manufacturing Engineering team is integrated with other production engineering disciplines that are engaged in diverse, challenging and exciting roles throughout the site.
Position Details:
Our Manufacturing Engineers perform various roles in support of our programs. Challenging opportunities include: Supporting Manufacturing Operations in a production environment; developing and implementing production and tooling methodologies while integrating technical solutions across multiple disciplines; developing, identifying and implementing conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build. Team members are also engaged in investigating technical problems and implementing manufacturing plans utilizing Lean principles and technologies. This environment embraces the concept of team collaboration focused on developing and implementing process improvements that are directed at enhancing schedule performance, lowering cost, improving quality and increasing worker safety.
This job position is within our Factory Support Production Engineering Team. The team is focused on supporting our manufacturing engineering processes in the production environment to improve production first time quality, capability and efficiency.
Required Experience/Skills:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related Production Engineering degree.
A successful candidate should have:
Strong analytical/technical, problem solving and communication skills.
Knowledge of the various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, structural and systems.
Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas
Ability to work well within a team environment to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products.
Proficiency with MS Office tool set: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
