Receiver Product Architect
Crawley – Hybrid (Relocation support can be provided)
Thales Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) UK is a principal supplier of UAS, EW and Radar equipment to the UK armed forces, as well as an exporter of these capabilities worldwide.
ISR is a highly complex product development environment, focusing on delivering cutting edge products including:
- Digital Radar Electronic Support Measures (RESM) that provides situational awareness and identify threats even in busy Electronic Transmission Environments
- Radar Electronic Countermeasures (RECM) that can protect assets by denying tactical advantage and distracting incoming threats.
We’re growing and we are looking for ambitious Engineers and Architect to join us on the journey. We are actively recruiting a Receiver Product Architect at an ‘SME’ or Technical Expert level to join us.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead the design and development and own the product roadmap of receiver solutions for both domestic and export portfolios
- To create a cohesive product line offering and collaborate with other product line architects’ to ensure cohesion and balancing new design with reuse.
- Support the development of engineers through coaching and mentoring
- Architect and optimise receiver systems for performance, key characteristics (such as size, weight, power, sustainability)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal design, driving receiver integration across multiple projects, working closely with both software, systems and hardware teams
- Support product development through entire lifecycle from bid concept to manufacture and in-service support
- Experience and understanding of receiver design, integration and test including but not limited to; Analogue to digital conversion, sub Nyqyist sampling, Fourier Analysis, digital superheterodyne receiver.
- Conduct simulations using Matlab and simulink tool to model receiver performance
- Perform product testing and validation of receivers, ensuring they meet both product, regulatory, safety and cyber requirements
- Adherence to industry standard and regulatory requirements and compliance.
Experience, skills and qualifications required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Significant experience in signal processing, real time multi-giga/terrabit signal processing, high speed processing, FPGA technology including RF SoC, algorithm design and proving, high speed fibre optic interfaces.
- Experience integrating and qualifying receivers within a larger complex system
- Ability to work confidently with multiple projects and priorities
Nice to have/desirable experience:
- Experience working in Electronic Warfare or similar field
- Familiarity with Naval Defence standards and regulation
- Systems Engineering fundamentals
- Understanding of Radar concepts and principles
- Understanding of directional finding techniques (amplitude/ phase interferometry)
