Mission
As a Quality Assurance Manager within Thales AMS, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the AMS department’s ambition to achieve and maintain certification for the EASA Design & Production Organization. Your expertise will ensure the robustness, reliability, and compliance of delivered products and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory alignment with EASA and industry standards.
Activities & Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment and monitoring of quality assurance plans to support EASA certification for the Design & Production Organization, ensuring alignment with EASA and applicable aviation and industry standards.
- Collaborate with discipline leaders (Software Assurance, Configuration Management, Production Quality) to coach and train cross-functional teams on best practices and compliance requirements, including but not limited to software reliability, configuration management, and traceability.
- Validate and oversee implementation of quality assurance policies, procedures, and compliance evidence, including plans for achieving regulatory requirements (e.g., DO-178, ED-109, ED-153, EN 9100, ISO 9001).
- Evaluate conformity of deliverables based on assigned assurance and safety levels through independent inspections, audits, and review of compliance documentation.
- Actively contribute to maturing the quality culture within AMS, supporting teams in developing, maintaining, and evidencing compliance to applicable EASA, Thales, and international standards.
- Organize and conduct internal audits in accordance with corporate and EASA requirements; support teams during external customer, authority, and EASA audits.
- Monitor and report any quality issues, non-conformities, or risks, recommending effective corrective and preventive actions to ensure sustained certification and operational excellence.
- Serve as a quality interface for AMS, raising alerts as required and providing clear, actionable reporting to management.
- Ensure consistent application of Thales management systems (such as Chorus 2.0) for all local Design & Production activities.
- Propose and help implement risk mitigation measures in coordination with technical and production teams.
Key Knowledge and Experience
- Degree (Master/Engineering diploma or equivalent) with at least 10 years’ experience in quality assurance management for development and/or production of safety-critical aviation systems.
- Hands-on experience in achieving and maintaining certification with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) or other aviation regulatory bodies is a significant asset.
- Strong background in software and/or hardware quality management, particularly in high-safety, mission-critical environments.
- Proven expertise in applying and supporting teams to comply with Software Assurance Standards (DO-178, ED-109, ED-153); experience with EN 9100 and ISO 9001 is highly appreciated.
- Excellent analytical, synthesis, and communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to simplify complex requirements for a technical audience.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across technical, quality, and production teams.
- Persuasive communicator, able to foster buy-in for quality initiatives and lead change management effectively.
- Pedagogical skills; experienced in coaching, mentoring, and delivering training.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and challenge teams towards operational excellence.
