Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently looking for a Sr Buyer who will be responsible for the planning, purchasing and forecasting of assigned products. Monitor supplier delivery performance and implement corrective action as required. Ongoing maintenance of safety stock levels and cycle turn performance metrics. Prepare management reports for responsible products including backorders, inventory and overall supportability. This is a contract opportunity with a world leading manufacturer of medical and safety technology products in Telford, PA.
Pay $45/hourPrincipal Accountabilities:
- Utilize SAP ERP system to plan, order and forecast assigned items to maximize customer order fulfillment while minimizing inventory investment. Develop item forecast based on historical consumption and market input.
- Manage introduction of new items into the SAP ERP system – actively participle in Object Approval & Design Change Request process. Create and maintain SAP planning parameters to achieve optimal performance.
- Manage day to day relationships with suppliers and act as the first line of escalation to ensure optimum supplier performance, successful execution of inventory strategy, and achievement of established KPI’s. Interact with Accounts Payable via the Online Document Center (ODC) tool to resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely fashion.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and take corrective action to ensure delivery goals are achieved. Maintain delivery dates within the purchase order based upon the most up-to-date delivery information provided by the supplier/vendor. Determine root causes for part shortages and implement corrective action to ensure optimal inventory and future customer demands. Implement and coordinate price changes on all relevant purchase orders as directed by Strategic Purchasing and monitor Purchase Price Variance to achieve optimal pricing goals.
- Negotiate and implement logistics models with key suppliers in collaboration with Strategic Purchasing for the purpose of achieving optimal inventory turns and dollars. Provide forecasts to vendors in an effort to achieve inventory flexibility.
- Prepare management reports as required – backorder status, inventory cycle turns, forward looking material supportability plans.
- Lead and participate in projects for supply chain activities and proxy for Department Director when needed. Serve as main point of contact in day-to-day operations, and provide guidance to resolve supply chain issues as needed.
- Understand and monitor KPIs using established tools in support of overall business objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five + years purchasing/buying experience. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite; SAP experience preferred.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Professional Certifications (APICS, N.A.P.M.) preferred. Established competence executing the daily dynamics & data integrity in SAP planning, purchasing, and order management environment. Strong written & verbal communication skills. Adept at using MS office suite to communicate/present/manage operations.
