Astronics AES is searching for a Staff Level Electrical Engineer to join our Airborne Power Control (APC) Product Team based in Kirkland, WA. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape the design and development of cutting-edge electrical systems, including fixed-wing, helicopter and pioneering eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) applications.
This is primarily an on-site role; however, we offer flexibility for part-time remote work depending on project requirements.

Position Overview
As a Staff Electrical Engineer, your primary mission is to support Astronics AES in achieving its vision of becoming a global leader in aircraft electrical power generation systems. Our products serve critical systems for small to midsize business jets, UAVs, and rotorcraft, and we are looking for driven individuals to help us take them to the next level.

- Aerospace Standards: Experience with aircraft products and development processes, including DO-160 and DO-254 compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design analog and digital circuits for advanced power electronics products.
- Utilize circuit simulation tools to optimize and guide design approaches.
- Research and select components based on performance, cost, and availability.
- Perform hardware functional testing to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Develop and document designs aligned with RTCA DO-254 compliance standards.
- Design robust products suitable for aircraft environments, accounting for factors like temperature and EMI (Electromagnetic Interference).
- Collaborate with technicians to support and execute hardware performance testing.
- Present technical concepts and results to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly in highly regulated industries, showcasing expertise in the key responsibilities listed above.
Employment Eligibility Requirements:
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, candidates must meet ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements, meaning you must be a US Person (citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
- Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment background check and a drug test, which includes screening for cannabis usage.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $132,983 - $199,474 per year. (Mid-point: $166,228).
Factors such as experience, certifications, and market conditions will help determine your actual salary, with most new hires positioned closer to the mid-point.
