Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Technical Program Manager to bring their Electrical Engineering, Program Management, and organizational expertise to our team of diverse, professional problem solvers in our Cabin Electronics / Cabin Power Products Group in Kirkland, WA.
The Cabin Electronics Product Group is the world’s leading manufacturer of in-seat power systems for the commercial airline industry. The group’s EmPower® product line provides a variety of scalable power solutions for aircraft passenger cabins and flight decks. The system is used by over 280 airlines, IFE suppliers, and all major aircraft OEM manufacturers worldwide.
JOB SUMMARY
Our Technical Program Manager is responsible for the management, performance, and the smooth transition into the initial production process to complete the new product development program. Coordinates with department Heads to develop a cross-functional team, focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery including planning and directing schedules and monitoring budget/spending. Organizes cross-functional activities, ensuring completion of the project i.e., product on schedule and within budget constraints.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Leadership:
- Resolves technical problems with a high degree of analytical expertise and originality
- Coordinates hardware/software design verification testing
- Coordinates the Boeing & Airbus offer ability process including the qualification test activities
Customer Management:
- Participates in negotiations on price and delivery in cooperation with contract administrator
- Typically communicates with customer buyers and subcontract managers, providing regular schedule updates, receiving customer feedback, and leading problem resolution
New Business:
- Leads proposal efforts on small, non-complex proposals
- Supports new product or existing product upgrade proposal activities on a mutually agreed to schedule
Contract Management:
- Completes compliance matrices for the statement of work and other terms and conditions for contracts
Cost/Budget Controls:
- Creates budgets for research projects or development programs
Schedule Control:
- Creates program schedules for the entire new product development life cycle that keep the program on schedule
- Identifies program risks and opportunities
- Maintains IRAD file and support budgets as defined in the project plan
Process Improvement:
- Drives continuous improvements in engineering processes by challenging and eliminating unnecessary steps.
- Coordinates the incorporation of lessons learned into the engineering design guidelines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required
- Five (5) or more years of direct experience in Program Management
- Demonstrated expertise with engineering tools: MS Project, MS Office, Requirements Management, and Configuration Management
- Experience in bringing newly developed products through the new product introduction process
- Experience in the Aerospace Industry
- Experience with the DO-160 regulatory standard for environmental testing of airborne equipment

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $111,929 - $167,893 per year (Mid-point: $139,911 per year). In most cases, new hires will be positioned closer to the mid-point of the range.
