Ready to take your career in a new direction? At Babcock, we value the deep expertise that comes from hands-on experience and we offer a unique opportunity to channel that knowledge into a rewarding new path. In this training role, you’ll use your technical background to deliver high‑quality instruction, develop and update course materials, and support learners as they build the skills needed to work confidently across a range of military vehicles and equipment. Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, hands-on training to military students using modern teaching methods and pre-set course materials.
- Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve training delivery and outcomes.
- Maintain your own professional development and ensure training content remains current and relevant.
- Monitor and support trainee development, providing feedback and remedial training where needed.
- Prepare lesson plans, training aids, and assessments to support course delivery.
You'll be working full-time, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week), based on site at MOD Lyneham, approximately 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Chippenham and 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Swindon.
Essential experience of the Vehicle Technician:
- Strong workshop experience with diagnostic skills in light vehicles or HGVs.
- Understanding of military vehicles or environments (desirable but not essential).
- Confident communicator with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
- IT literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Enthusiastic and articulate, with a proactive approach to learning and teaching.
Qualifications for the Vehicle Technician:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance or Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds Part 3, Apprenticeship, or military equivalent such as Class 1 REME Vehicle Mechanic).
- Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or willingness to achieve this as part of the role).
