STS Aviation Services is hiring a
Supply Chain Team Lead to oversee local logistics and procurement operations at our Newquay (NQY) site. This role serves as the senior on site supply chain authority, responsible for leading logistics and procurement activities while ensuring compliance with company policy, aviation standards, and operational priorities.
The Supply Chain Team Lead plays a critical role in supporting aircraft maintenance operations by managing people, materials, tooling, and supplier engagement to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant outcomes.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Team Lead holds day to day accountability to both the Procurement Manager and Civil Logistics Manager. This position leads all local supply chain activities at NQY, including logistics assurance, procurement execution, staff development, and operational performance.
Strategic direction, policy, and governance are set centrally. This role ensures flawless local execution.
Key Accountabilities
Logistics Operations
- Lead local logistics operations in line with the STS Logistics Assurance Programme
- Conduct internal logistics assurance checks and manage follow up actions
- Ensure quarantine procedures are established, followed, and documented
- Oversee waste management procedures in accordance with policy and regulation
- Manage stock levels to minimise write offs and maintain inventory within agreed thresholds
- Control all PROMRO logistics activities and assurance requirements
- Lead and support logistics investigations when required
- Ensure all stock handling and storage meets policy and regulatory requirements
- Ensure tooling management is sufficiently resourced and compliant
- Maintain full control of tooling in accordance with calibration and control procedures
Procurement Activities
- Conduct procurement activities in line with direction from the Procurement Manager and Deputy Procurement Manager
- Manage, track, and support Materiel Lead activities on a daily basis
- Execute procurement actions when required to meet operational demand
- Coordinate material lead allocations with central procurement leadership
- Conduct procurement investigations as necessary
- Attend customer meetings to support procurement activity and stakeholder engagement
- Escalate supplier performance issues and risks for resolution
- Ensure ethical procurement practices, including anti bribery, sustainability, and corporate responsibility compliance
Staff Development and Training
- Manage training requirements in coordination with Procurement and Logistics leadership
- Ensure role based training is assigned and completed in line with development plans
- Conduct regular competency checks to confirm training effectiveness and operational readiness
Team Leadership and Operations
- Ensure each Supply Chain Team shift is fully staffed with suitably trained personnel
- Allocate daily tasks and resources to meet operational priorities
- Support recruitment activities when required
- Manage timesheets and leave planning
- Review and manage infrastructure requirements supporting supply chain activities
- Conduct regular process improvement reviews
- Attend planning, coordination, and review meetings
- Deliver daily work allocation briefs
- Provide KPI reporting and analysis
- Act as the NQY focal point with full situational awareness of supply chain activity

Required Qualifications And Experience
- Significant experience in logistics operations within a commercial environment
- Strong understanding of supply chain process development
- Knowledge of calibration management principles and tooling control
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage workload and priorities
- Experience delivering high levels of service through team leadership
- Good understanding of aviation operations and principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong working knowledge of PROMRO
- Full UK driving licence
