ResponsibilitiesThis role supports the Director of Fuel Management, primarily focused on the timely processing and
payment of fuel-related invoices, managing the fuel management system, and ensuring the accurate
completion of month-end accounting. Additionally, the position contributes to the development,
construction, and upkeep of financial models and analyses that support the fuel management
department.
- Manage and be the subject matter expert in the use of fuel management system, including prices,
terms, volume, and fees so that invoices are paid within terms. - Review fuel and fuel-related invoices to ensure costs, taxes, and fees are correct and
gallons/flights/period costs match Spirit’s actual usage. Seek timely and full correction of any
discrepancies. Reconcile the into-plane and consortium monthly billings to ensure accuracy, seek
timely correction of any discrepancies, and process for payment. - Examine source data from the fuel management system, internal/external data, and report any
inconsistencies or problems. Review and reconcile suppliers' statements of account and validate fuel
transactions on a weekly/monthly basis. - Assist the Tax department to ensure their sales and excise taxes are current in the system.
- Review and validate gallons/rates on prepayment invoices to be submitted to AP.
- Complete all assigned Accounting month-end close reports. Assist in preparing Fuel Management
usage reports, cost summaries, and projections. - Maintain relationships with suppliers, transportation companies, storage operators, into-plane
operators, and airports, through ethical behavior and regular communication. Ensure vendor and
airport fuel supply operator contact information up to date. - Work with other Spirit departments (Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Airport Services,
Finance, OCC, etc.) as needed to support Fuel Management and Company objectives. - Perform market research and analyze competitors to gauge opportunities to reduce fuel costs.
Prepare any ad-hoc analysis that may arise. - Assist in the annual fuel bid analysis to secure competitively priced fuel at locations we serve
through strategic sourcing, purchasing, and contract management. - Develop and lead a high-performing, effective, and motivated team. Mentor and coach to deliver
results, while building bench-strength for the future.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, demonstrating precision and expertise,
in order to maximize efficiency and productivity. - A self-starter who has the ability to work independently and within a team.
- High proficiency in MS Office; specifically, MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas, data
formatting, etc.). - Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Business, Accounting or Economics.
- 3-5 years experience in Finance or Accounting.
- Financial analysis and financial modeling experience preferred.
