Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented test engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and developing test processes of aerospace products for the Stratoflex Products Division. This role is a hands-on position requiring an individual who is self-motivated with proper engineering principles for problem solving and design, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and integration as they relate to a testing environment.
Essential Functions
Collaborates in a team environment to develop and maintain test benches for testing aerospace hose, tubes, fittings, quick disconnects, swivels, etc.
Effectively troubleshoots issues with hydraulic and/or pneumatic testing equipment by applying basic engineering principles and established analytical tools. This will require looking at hydraulic and electrical schematics of complex systems to properly identify sources of issues and safely implement correction.
Constructs, revises, and routes technical documents and test procedures in addition to reviewing test reports and data for accuracy and completeness.
Conducts internal audits of the engineering lab to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 specification requiring a review of internal and external documents, review of testing processes, and evaluation of technicians performing testing.
Manages and supports outside testing efforts requiring the ability to work with external labs and both external and internal engineering teams to support their testing requests. Outside testing may require occasional, short-term travel.
Applies knowledge of Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems, sensors, PLC/HMI interfaces, and similar hardware to assist testing needs. This may include using these components to prototype new testing capabilities, analyzing process values (temperature, pressure, flow, etc.), and/or maintain existing test systems.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, engaging in engineering literature, and/or participating in professional associations.
Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities. Contributes and supports other teams or individuals as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar engineering technical discipline. Professional entry-level position. May have limited prior industry experience or have worked with direction in student internship programs.
Fundamental knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, and techniques.
Experience with software development with IDEs/program languages such LabVIEW (preferred), Allen Bradley, and/or similar PLC or dataflow programming.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and reports. Ability to present findings and information in both formal meetings and informally within and across Parker teams.
Fundamental knowledge of and use of basic engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer-aided design programs) to assist in custom fabrication of test adapters, manifolds, etc.
Experience with integration of electrical components such as sensors, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, relays, etc. with an understanding of standard electrical wiring practices.
Ability to communicate status of technical tasks and findings with clarity and precision. This will require familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to efficiently handle multiple projects with general direction and instruction regarding the scope of assignments; determines the priority and order of assignments; and applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques. Comfortable using resources available to complete tasks, not requiring extensive guidance/supervision.
