Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Bid Manager, the Commercial Manager is a key member of the order-winning team and plays an important role in supporting the wider business. The successful candidate will be commercially astute, with the ability to develop pragmatic and innovative solutions that enable the sales team to secure complex opportunities, while identifying and managing risk appropriately.
You will have end-to-end responsibility for leading opportunities through the bid process, from initial opportunity through to contract award and handover to the post order delivery teams. The role involves managing complex commercial and contractual matters and working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate commercial strategies.

Your day-to-day
Lead a matrix bid team, working closely with Sales, Legal, Finance, Procurement and Technical teams to develop competitive and compliant bid solutions.
Develop and implement appropriate strategies for project and aftermarket opportunities.
Identify, evaluate and manage commercial, contractual and financial risks, ensuring alignment with company policies and governance requirements.
Review, draft and negotiate contractual terms and conditions, providing clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Provide commercial input to pricing strategies, cost models and financial assessments to support bid decisions.
Support the transition from bid to delivery by ensuring effective contract handover and clarity of commercial obligations.
Who we are looking for
- Strong Commercial acumen including knowledge of commercial/contractual terms and conditions (including US government FARs/DFARs and UK/US export control).
- Ability to build relationships with customers
- Ability to understand technical product offerings and associated bid documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions.
- Highly self-motivated, eager to learn and succeed, strong cross-functional leadership skills, able to consolidate and drive action plans.
- Proficiency and experience with CRM and ERP tools.
- Excellent presentation, communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency and experience with Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
Ideally, you will also have
- Bachelor degree or higher
- Demonstrated experience of oil & gas, power gen and energy contract terms review and negotiation.
Previous experience in commercial, sales, customer service or engineering.
Previous experience in sales of industrial technical products or services.
