The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a progressive opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, where you will utilise your skills and enthusiasm to develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead to provide oversight and technical assurance across multiple engineering projects. The engineering activities range from continued support to the overhaul and operation of a broad range of complex assets, upgrade projects to naval platform capability and support to future bid opportunities.
- Checking for most mechanical engineering deliverables, i.e. technical documentation, 3D Computer-Aided Design and technical drawings, operating instructions.
- Concept setting out, including material selection, and scoping calculations.
- Working on the full lifecycle engineering experience / awareness.
- Defining test instructions along with reviewing and interpreting results.
- Understanding of the non-conformance and change request processes.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential Experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Mechanical Engineering capabilities including design for manufacture, validation through hand calculation.
- Able to supervise, co-ordinate or work within a team providing guidance across multiple projects and disciplines.
- Ability to use systems engineering design processes and adapt them to suit an application.
- Experienced user of Computer-Aided Design systems for design, modelling, simulation and draughting.
Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Mechanical Engineering Degree, or HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability of working in a Senior role.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate can start on Standard (BPSS) with the vision to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC).
