Overview:
Supports day-to-day mechanical and electrical design activities, developing 3D models, drawings, and engineering data for aerospace or complex engineered products. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver manufacturable, standards-compliant designs across the product lifecycle.
What You Will Do *
- Support day-to-day design and engineering activities for assigned programs within the engineering organization.
- Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings in Siemens NX (UG) for sheet metal, machined, plastic and assemblies.
- Apply best design practices for: Machined parts, Sheet metal parts and Thermoplastic components.
- Contribute to electrical routing design and/or LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) packaging, as applicable to design scope.
- Work with NX Electrical Routing module to support harness routing and electrical integration activities.
- Develop and maintain Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) at component, sub-assembly, and top-level, ensuring accuracy and compliance with release processes.
- Prepare and support ECN/ECR (Engineering Change Notices/Requests) documentation.
- Use Teamcenter (TcE) and tools such as JIRA and other enterprise systems for data management, task tracking, and collaboration.
- Support end-to-end program execution in a virtual, cross-functional engineering environment.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, manufacturing process requirements, OEM guidelines, and organizational quality processes.
- Participate in hardware selection and basic hardware management activities.
What You Will Learn
- Real-world application of aerospace design standards and certification-driven requirements.
- Exposure to aircraft seating systems and integrated mechanical-electrical design (preferred program area).
- Hands-on experience with electrical harness routing, connector integration, and LRU packaging.
- Deeper understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, vacuum forming, injection molding, and composites.
- End-to-end exposure to product lifecycle management (PLM) using Teamcenter and enterprise engineering workflows.
- Experience working in a global, cross-functional, and fast-paced engineering program environment.
Qualifications You Must Have *
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- 1–3 years of experience in CAD engineering and mechanical design.
- Strong working knowledge of Siemens NX (UG) including: 3D modeling, 2D drafting, Assembly modeling, Machined and Sheet metal module.
- Experience designing sheet metal, plastic, and machined components.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, vacuum forming and injection molding.
- Working knowledge of Teamcenter (TcE) or similar PLM systems.
- Familiarity with engineering standards, drafting standards, and design best practices.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, virtual, and cross-functional team environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in the aerospace industry (candidates from automotive or similar industries are also considered if skills align).
- Knowledge of electrical connectors, wiring harnesses, and routing practices.
- Experience in LRU packaging and integration.
- Experience supporting EBOM release activities.
- Exposure to NX Electrical Routing module.
