As a
Senior Regulatory and Safety Specialist, you will operate as a
hands-on technical specialist providing regulatory, safety and compliance support across Qantas Engineering and Express Freighters Australia (EFA), enabling safe, compliant and timely engineering operations.
You will operate as a technical specialist, working across multiple regulatory approvals and safety systems, supporting both business-as-usual activities and major implementation programs such as new aircraft entry into service, fleet changes and supplier approvals.
This role is part of a specialist cohort, working in a matrix environment alongside engineering, operational and assurance stakeholders. This is an exciting time to join our team as we prepare for the entry into service of the A321XLR and A350 aircraft, marking a significant milestone in our fleet renewal and expansion strategy.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- 5+ years’ experience working in an operational aviation environment
- Strong working knowledge of Australian and international aviation regulations (ICAO, CASR Part 21, 42, 145, and 147 regulations)
- Professional aviation management or safety qualifications, including Lead Auditor is highly regarded
- Experience working within regulated approval frameworks and with aviation regulators
- Practical experience in safety management systems and risk-based decision making
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong regulatory problem-solving skills, able to identify compliant alternatives that support operational outcomes while maintaining safety and regulatory integrity
- Analytical, systems-focused thinking, with an understanding of how regulations interact across people, aircraft, processes and suppliers
- Highly motivated and committed to continuous improvement
- Ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively
