At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Qantas Engineering in Los Angeles is home to our state-of-the-art maintenance facility which opened in 2017, where we carry out critical scheduled maintenance on our wide-body aircraft with a primary focus on our A380 and B787 fleet. We conduct ‘A’ checks, engine changes and day to day line maintenance requirements where we have departures back to Australia every night, connecting North America to Australia. Our team ensures we meet the highest standards of safety and reliability. While we continue to conduct critical maintenance for our international network, we are also preparing to welcome our first A350 to our Qantas fleet, expanding our maintenance capabilities in North America.
As the
Service Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and leading an on-shift team of AMEs and LAMEs in day-to-day maintenance operations. This will include allocating workloads, ensuring airworthiness of the Qantas fleet, optimising aircraft availability, on time performance and AOG recovery.
You’ll Have
- A CASA/EASA (or equivalent) B1 and/or B2 licence with a B787-9 and/or A380 type rating.
- Minimum 7 years’ LAME/Certification experience with a focus on leading line and/or heavy maintenance operations teams in an aviation industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate large teams across shifts.
- High-level decision-making skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on safety, compliance, and performance delivery.
- Strong understanding of aviation regulatory frameworks (FAA, CASA, EASA, Cal/OSHA) and airworthiness standards.
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence all levels of staff and stakeholders
- Deep operational knowledge of Qantas group aircraft, systems, and maintenance procedures.
- Proficiency in using operational systems and tools (e.g. dashboards, maintenance tracking, reporting platforms).
