About the role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll work on some of New Zealand’s most complex and meaningful engineering challenges, directly shaping the mechanical systems that support the NZDF fleet. This role offers the chance to lead investigations, design improvements, and ensure technically robust outcomes that meet strict regulatory, safety, and operational requirements. You’ll operate with genuine ownership, trusted to deliver high‑quality mechanical solutions that make a real impact across naval and maritime capability.
You’ll join a team that values curiosity, courage, collaboration, and continuous improvement. With access to modern engineering toolsets, experienced colleagues, and a strong engineering governance framework, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your expertise while mentoring others. The work is diverse, stretching across design, analysis, risk assessment, documentation, and integration activities—ideal for someone who wants both technical depth and wider engineering influence. If you want a role where your engineering decisions matter, where you solve meaningful problems, and where you contribute to defence capability and national security, this is it.
