General Summary
We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 Test Technician who demonstrates an ability to perform high level troubleshooting and resolve technical issues and thrives in a fast, rapidly changing, high-pressure environment to join our Astronics team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Testing and Validation:
- Perform advanced RF testing on newly built RF test equipment according to established procedures and standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations of RF systems, subsystems, and components to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Test and validate RF circuits, assemblies, and interfaces across prescribed frequency ranges and power levels.
High-Level Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues related to RF performance, hardware malfunctions, and other system errors.
- Analyze data from test equipment and identify potential root causes of performance discrepancies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and recommend product or process improvements.
Process Improvements:
- Assist in refining testing protocols and procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and productivity.
- Develop a better and easier understanding of testing procedure for cross training MFG group to perform low level testing.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, troubleshooting activities, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and update technical documentation, including test reports, calibration procedures, and testing guidelines.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with the engineering and production teams to ensure seamless communication between design and testing phases.
- Provide technical guidance to junior technicians, as needed.
- Offer feedback to design teams to improve manufacturability and testability of products.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all testing activities meet strict quality and compliance standards.
- Verify that equipment meets performance specifications and reliability requirements.
- Audit the maintenance schedule and plan for the station calibration.
- Support failure analysis to determine root causes and corrective actions for customer or internal issues.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). A bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in UUT testing and troubleshooting, RF test equipment or systems experience is a plus.
- Must understand basic principles of Lean Manufacturing.
- Proficient in using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, Oscilloscope, Measuring receiver and power meters.
- Understanding of RF measurement concepts like VSWR, gain, phase noise, PIM (Passive Intermodulation), and noise figure.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with RF communication protocols, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, or cellular technologies, is a plus.
- Basic understanding of software tools commonly used for testing and automation (e.g., LabVIEW, TestStand).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
