Position Summary
To support the safe, secure, and efficient execution of cargo and Dangerous Goods operations by coordinating day-to-day activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements, monitoring service providers’ performance, and facilitating effective communication among internal and external stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Support and uphold Firefly’s safety and security policies, procedures, and operational standards related to cargo and Dangerous Goods (DG) operations.
- Ensure all cargo acceptance, handling, storage, documentation, and aircraft uplift activities comply with CAAM regulations, ICAO Technical Instructions, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), and Company manuals.
- Promote a strong safety culture by proactively identifying operational risks and ensuring adherence to Safety Management System (SMS) principles.
- Ensure proper acceptance checks, documentation verification, marking, labeling, segregation, and loading of Dangerous Goods in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Verify that personnel involved in cargo and DG handling meet competency requirements, including CBTA-DGR training, certification validity, and recurrent training compliance.
- Support audits, inspections, and internal compliance checks related to DG operations.
- Assist in monitoring cargo operational performance, including on-time uplift, mishandling rates, service delivery standards, and irregularities.
- Oversee performance of appointed cargo agents and ground handling providers to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service reliability.
- Identify, document, and report operational hazards, non-compliances, and safety occurrences.
- Support investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as ground handling agents, cargo agents, freight forwarders, and regulatory authorities on operational matters.
- Maintain accurate cargo operational records, reports, manuals, and documentation to support audits and regulatory inspections.
- Support initiatives to enhance cargo operational standards, compliance controls, and service quality performance.
- Contribute to process reviews and implementation of best practices in cargo and DG handling.
- Perform any other duties or special assignments as directed by the Manager or Head of Ground Operations to support departmental and corporate objectives
Qualifications
- SPM, Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in airline cargo operations, ground handling, or airport services
Areas of Experience
- Knowledge of cargo handling processes and Dangerous Goods regulations (IATA DGR, ICAO, CAAM).
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and escalate issues appropriately
