As the Senior Manager Crew Systems, you will set the direction and lead the implementation, support, and continuous improvement of the Jeppesen Crew optimisation systems across the Qantas Group. You will be accountable for driving crew workforce optimisation outcomes through system excellence, vendor management, and team leadership.
This is a role where deep technical expertise meets strategic leadership. You will deliver optimisation initiatives that support transformation and growth objectives, improving outcomes and efficiencies within workforce planning relating to crew utilisation, scheduling and rostering, training, and strategic imperatives. This includes managing the delivery of operationally critical system changes, ensuring milestones are met and risks are identified and escalated appropriately.
As a people leader, you will manage a team of Managers Crew Systems (with indirect reports) and work with multiple functions across the Group Airlines. You will be a key decision-maker for the recruitment and retention of talent, providing coaching, mentoring, development, and team building to grow a high-performing crew systems capability.
You’ll have
- Minimum 7 years’ experience with Jeppesen Crew Pairing and Jeppesen Crew Rostering, Jeppesen RAVE, and Python (Jeppesen Manpower Planning highly desirable)
- Proven experience managing teams, with a strong focus on building and maintaining a high-performing team
- Strong system architecture skills, with the ability to design clean, well-structured solutions that balance technical rigour with operational requirements
- Degree in IT (Software Development), Mathematics, Business, or Aviation (post-graduate qualifications in optimisation, analytics, or a related field desirable)
- Sound understanding of best practice workforce planning and optimisation techniques, including crew scheduling and rostering principles
- Sophisticated stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and exert influence at executive and senior leadership levels
- Deep problem-solving ability, combining technical expertise with commercial and strategic thinking to inform solutions
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey highly complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
- Strategic planning and change management capability, with the ability to design and govern complex project plans for key strategic initiatives
