Position Summary
The incumbent is responsible for leading, directing and controlling the activities of Parker Lord Japan business, so that companies achieve the short and long term financial and operating objectives, i.e. increased profitability, productivity, or market share, as set by the overall corporate business plan. He/ She will establish an overall vision and strategy, approve policies and procedures for the countries’ business units against standard and target in areas such as operation and administration efficiency, cost control, sales revenue, legal compliance and human resource management. He/ She will lead, guide, evaluate and develop a team of senior managers to ensure that the country business units achieve its business objectives and comply with all relevant regulations and laws.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all safety, employee engagement, customer engagement and financial results for Lord Japan business. Responsibility includes existing offices, plant or warehouse in Lord Japan.
Oversee Profit/Loss of Parker Lord Japan Business. Develop annual budgets and provide firm budget management to maintain costs and reduce loss from operations.
Responsible for leading, guiding, evaluating and developing the senior management team for Lord Japan business to ensure that the countries’ business units achieve their business objectives and comply with all relevant regulations and laws. Mentor and coach direct reports in order to expand their capabilities and build management depth in the organization.
Provide leadership to ensure best utilization of resources in obtaining corporate and regional goals, regulatory compliance, and compliance with corporate and regional policies. Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, vision, values, philosophy and culture of the organization. Participate in the development of the organization's strategic plan.
Motivate and lead the organization effectively to implement the strategy and achieve the desired results. Utilize communication, interpersonal and influencing skills effectively with the regional and global organization and customers. Lead the group by motivating all staff to move in the strategic direction and to work as a team to achieve the goal.
Grow revenue by developing customers through strategic direction setting and thorough execution for Lord Japan Business.
Improving business in Lord Japan, and positioning Lord Japan business for sustained growth by applying new approaches, business models, tools and competencies, and identifying unique opportunities in Japan that fit the Lord business filter, developing and executing related capture plans.
Position Lord Japan business for determined annual growth by developing several new business platforms based on technology and product competencies. The organizations have traditionally focused on the automotive sector. In order to drive significant growth, diversifying and penetrating into new market segments are imperative.
Vision the future and provide strategic direction and insights into potential markets, prioritize opportunities, develop a strategic plan to approach the customers, and implement the strategy, include willing to take risks, to change direction if necessary, and be single-mindedly persistent in pursuit of strategic objectives.
Support Lord Japan enterprise business growth by supporting programs and training/coaching of team members.
Provide leadership in the implementation of Parker’s global initiatives including safety, quality, global account management and portfolio management.
Qualifications
Fifteen-plus years of experience as a general manager or senior marketing or sales or operational leadership positions in the chemical or related industries (including leadership roles with cross-functional experience in manufacturing, finance, purchasing, business development or technology, etc.).
Proven track record of identification, evaluation, and commercialization of new business opportunities with industrial customers.
Ten-plus years of leadership experience in a global business context, especially in MNCs with matrix organizations
A Bachelor’s degree with a business or technical focus (require demonstrated proficiency in technical sales).
Fluency in English and Japanese and excellent managerial communication and command over language.
Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communication, persuasion, influencing, planning, problem-solving skills.
Strategic acumen with strong analytical skill.
Strong leadership and good communicator with both internally and toward customers.
Strong change leadership.
