Responsibilities
Based within the Fareham Operations Centre Quality Engineering Team, the Quality Engineer will support the Quality Engineering Manager and have responsibility to ensure effective and timely management of quality investigations with customers and suppliers, and support closure of internal and 3rd party audit findings. The role will also support QC inspection activities to ensure product and process conformity, including review of inspection results and coordination of corrective actions. The Quality Engineer will drive Zero Defects and BMS improvement in accordance with internal and external customer requirements.
Your responsibilities:
- Review and produce product FAIRs, PPAPs and control plans and present to customers as required.
- Identify and lead improvement projects and investigations across the business with multifunctional teams, monitoring KPIs such as yield, cost of quality, DPPM etc
- Be customer facing in the management of quality activities for applicable key customers.
- Support internal & external audits and liaise with the Quality Systems Team to address actions raised by 3rd party certification bodies (CAA, BSI) and customers.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance through surveillance and improvement activities by the use of appropriate quality tools.
- Support QC (Inspection) activities, including:
Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements to define appropriate inspection criteria.
Providing technical support and guidance to Inspectors on inspection methods, gauging, measurement techniques and use of calibrated equipment.
Reviewing and analysing inspection data (e.g. first-off, patrol, final inspection, in-process checks, CMM reports) to identify trends, non-conformances and opportunities for defect prevention.
Ensuring non-conforming product is correctly identified, contained and processed through MRB, and that robust RCCA is implemented to prevent recurrence.
Contributing to inspection standard work, work instructions and visual aids to support consistent inspection quality.
Introduce and improve BMS processes across the operations centre, and be involved in Kaizen activities to identify and reduce waste.
