Position Overview
Mechanic Helper will support our Aircraft Maintenance team at our Harlingen maintenance base. This role is designed for individuals currently attending or planning to attend an FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School and pursuing their Airframe & Powerplant certification.
The Mechanic Helper assists licensed Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) with maintenance support tasks that do not require FAA certification while gaining hands-on exposure to airline maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed A&P mechanics with routine maintenance support tasks.
- Prepare tools, equipment, and parts needed for aircraft maintenance activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the maintenance areas.
- Assist with basic mechanical duties such as component cleaning, panel removal/installation support, and work area setup.
- Support maintenance teams with ground support activities as directed.
- Observe and shadow licensed mechanics, including flight mechanics when available, to learn airline maintenance procedures and aircraft systems.
- Follow all FAA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in an FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School.
- Pursuing Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and strong interest in aviation maintenance.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of licensed mechanics.
- Must be able to obtain airport security clearance.
