Position Summary

Overview
Lead the day-to-day execution of our Parts Department—keeping production moving safely, efficiently, and to spec. As the Lead Person for Parts Department operations, you’ll direct floor activities, solve problems in real time, and coach the team to hit daily goals. You’ll work closely with—and support—the Value Stream Manager to drive performance every shift.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Lead daily parts department operations to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets; set priorities, assign work, and maintain pace
- Coordinate and execute start-ups, changeovers, shutdowns, and off-shift setup/support as needed to minimize downtime and waste
- Monitor and verify product quality to ensure all specifications are consistently met
- Track performance (output, scrap, rework) and take immediate corrective action to prevent repeat issues
- Enforce PPE, safe work practices, and standard operating procedures; identify hazards and escalate concerns appropriately
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical/process issues within scope; partner with Maintenance and leadership to identify root causes and resolve recurring problems
- Train, coach, and mentor operators on standard work, quality checks, safety practices, and efficient work habits; support onboarding and hold team members accountable for adhering to all company policies
- Complete and validate production, quality, and shift documentation; ensure clear, accurate shift hand-offs and communication across teams
- Identify and recommend process improvements (e.g., 5S/Lean) to reduce waste, shorten changeovers, and increase throughput
What Success Looks Like
- The Parts Department runs steadily with minimal stoppages and strong throughput
- Quality issues are prevented or caught early—before they become rework or customer problems
- Safety standards are consistently followed and actively reinforced
- The team is aligned on the plan, supported on the floor, and delivering to daily targets
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in manufacturing/packaging operations (bagging, palletizing, production line work, or similar)
- Proven ability to lead on the floor—assigning work, coaching, and driving execution
- Strong attention to detail for quality checks and documentation accuracy
- Solid troubleshooting skills and clear, direct communication
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach others
- Demonstrated reliability, strong attendance, and accountability
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision
Preferred
- Prior lead/line leader experience in bagging, bulk packaging, or high-speed production
- Familiarity with basic equipment checks (sensors, scales, printers, conveyors)
- Experience with production reporting, shift handoffs, and continuous improvement (5S/Lean)
Physical & Work Environment
- Standing, walking, lifting up to 40lbs, bending, and working around moving equipment throughout the shift
- Use of PPE and adherence to all plant safety and sanitation requirements
- Shift work may include weekends, overtime, and off-shift coverage based on production needs
