Experience leading or mentoring project managers (formal or informal leadership)
Experience working with Visual Communications or creative production teams; strong understanding of multidisciplinary workflows (for example: design, video production, web development, Visual Effects)
Demonstrated experience developing project plans, schedules, and budgets in partnership with stakeholders
Experience allocating resources and balancing team capacity
Experience tracking project data in project management systems (Workamajig exposure a plus)

Associate Manager of Project Management
Location: Fort Worth TX
What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking a strategic, operationally strong leader to guide our Project Management team within Visual Communications at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. This role leads a team of Project Managers responsible for the intake, planning, execution, and delivery of creative work that shapes enterprise brand and program messaging.
The Associate Manager will unify and elevate project management practices across the team—driving accountability, operational consistency, fiscal responsibility, and data integrity. This leader ensures projects are executed with discipline and transparency, while enabling creative teams to deliver high-impact visual solutions aligned to business priorities.
This position reports to the Visual Communications Sr. Manager and partners closely with Associate Managers across Visual Media, Visual Effects, Web, and Graphic Design, as well as Creative Directors, Art Directors, and cross-functional Communications partners.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Develop the Project Management Function
- Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight for a team of Project Managers
- Establish clear expectations around project ownership, documentation, organization, and communication
- Build team capability through coaching, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence
Drive Operational Excellence
- Standardize and optimize project lifecycle processes from intake through closure
- Ensure consistent scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation practices
- Promote accurate data tracking within project management systems (Workamajig experience preferred)
- Monitor KPIs and portfolio health to ensure transparency in workload, capacity, and performance
Strategic Business Partnership
- Serve as a strategic partner to internal customers, aligning project outcomes to enterprise priorities
- Lead intake conversations to clarify scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success metrics
- Manage stakeholder expectations with executive presence and clear communication
- Ensure alignment between creative deliverables and program, brand, and communications objectives
Fiscal & Resource Stewardship
- Oversee project budgets and resource utilization to ensure responsible use of company funds
- Monitor project variances and implement corrective action when necessary
- Champion a “value-always” mindset—balancing quality, efficiency, and business impact
Risk & Change Management
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect scope, schedule, and budget
- Guide the team through scope changes with structured change management processes
- Ensure proactive issue escalation and resolution
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
- Establish and report on meaningful performance metrics for senior leadership
- Identify process gaps and implement improvements across workflows and tools
- Promote best practices in project management methodologies and systems
Desired Skills
Experience in the defense and aerospace industry
Executive presence and strong interpersonal communication skills
Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent)
Experience implementing or improving operational processes at a team or department level
