What is the VIE program? The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals in the EU the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function. A. Position Accountabilities
The job holder leads the business performance management for Manufacturing Engineering (ME) at the Getafe plant (ODGM). This dual-focus role is responsible for the financial and operational health of the department, encompassing budget management, team performance tracking, and headcount planning. As a strategic partner to the Head of ME Plant, the position ensures that all organizational targets are cascaded and met with precision.
As the Transformation and Competence Manager, the job holder drives the ME Getafe organization to meet its strategic evolution needs, ensuring the workforce's skills are aligned with future industrial demands. Acting as the Technical Assistant to the HO ME Plant, this role provides high-level support in daily management, strategy construction, and organizational design, while serving as the primary focal point for Resource MFT and transnational competence management.
B. Dimensions
Subordinate Employees: Indirectly managing 115 FTEs (113 White Collar / 2 Blue Collar) plus 10 temporary staff to ensure transformation readiness.
Operating Budget: Oversight of €14M (OpEx) across A350, A320, and A330 programs and Non-Serial Costs.
Subcontracting Portfolio: €10M dedicated to subcontracting (ODG + VSM) in the role of Local Subcontracting Manager (LSM).
Project Volume: Management and monitoring of approximately 100 parallel projects within the ME portfolio.
C. Main Activities
Technical Assistance & Deputization: Support the HO ME Plant in strategic decision-making, workload-workforce reviews, and representing Getafe ME in transnational and plant forums.
Performance Management: Lead the budget cascading process and consolidate financial figures (FCO). Analyze Bottom-up vs. Targets to identify Risks and Opportunities.
Financial & KPI Monitoring: Compile monthly actuals for financial and non-financial KPIs, providing variance analysis vs. YTD targets and End-of-Year Best Outlooks.
Transformation & Competence Strategy: Ensure all FTEs possess the skills required for the ME Transformation. Lead the semi-annual PMER (Programme Manufacturing Engineering Resources) exercises.
Resource & Workforce Planning: Monitor monthly workforce volume (AWF) including hires, leaves, and retirements, serving as the Resource MFT focal point for Getafe.
Subcontracting Governance: Act as the Local Subcontracting Manager (LSM), providing visibility into supplier and cluster activities through ME3S Governance.
Project Portfolio Oversight: Maintain the regular drumbeat and follow-up for the ODGM project portfolio, ensuring milestones are met across different plant levels.
D. Key Outputs
Budgetary & Risk Visibility: Consolidated ME Getafe budget reports and monthly performance reviews with actionable Risk & Opportunity mitigations.
Strategic Workforce Roadmap: Semi-annual PMER presentations and monthly competence mapping to bridge the gap between current skills and transformation needs.
Subcontracting & Portfolio Control: Yearly self-assessments for subcontracting and a transparent project dashboard providing guidance on organizational ways of working.
E. Organizational Structure
Reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering (HO ME) at the Getafe Plant, the job holder acts as a key transversal link. The role supports all ME managers and the wider Getafe ME community while serving as the official liaison to the ME Central Team and the transnational OM Resource & Competence MFT.
