TITLE: Fleet Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Quality (Chief Inspector)
Overview
Global Crossing Airlines (GlobalX) is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager / Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering oversight for the Airbus A320 family fleet operating under 14 CFR Part 121.
This role is responsible for maintaining technical airworthiness, reliability, and configuration control of the assigned fleet. The Fleet Manager / Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for the aircraft type and works closely with Maintenance, Maintenance Control, Reliability, Flight Operations, and OEM representatives to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient fleet operation.
The position requires strong airline engineering experience, deep knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance programs, and the ability to analyze technical data to improve fleet performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Engineering & Airworthiness Oversight
- Serve as the primary technical focal point for the Airbus A320 fleet.
- Maintain oversight of aircraft configuration, technical status, and airworthiness compliance.
- Ensure compliance with 14 CFR Part 121 regulations and the FAA-approved maintenance program.
- Evaluate and implement Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and engineering changes.
- Review and approve engineering dispositions, repairs, and technical deviations in coordination with OEM and DER/ODA organizations.
- Support development and revision of Engineering Orders (EOs) and repair schemes.
Maintenance Program & Technical Documentation
- Support development and continuous improvement of the airline’s Aircraft Maintenance Program (AMP).
- Evaluate Airbus Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) revisions for incorporation into the maintenance program.
- Monitor structural inspections, life-limited components, and airworthiness limitations.
- Ensure proper tracking and compliance with ADs, SBs, LLPs, and configuration control requirements.
- Maintain technical records related to aircraft build standards, modifications, and major repairs.
Fleet Reliability & Technical Analysis
- Monitor aircraft system reliability and component performance trends.
- Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify reliability issues and corrective actions.
- Work with the Reliability Program to improve fleet performance and dispatch reliability.
- Support troubleshooting of complex technical issues affecting aircraft availability.
Operational Support
- Provide engineering support to Maintenance Control and line maintenance operations.
- Assist with troubleshooting, repair development, and engineering dispositions during AOG events.
- Support aircraft inductions, lease returns, and heavy maintenance visits.
- Coordinate technical activities with OEMs, MRO providers, lessors, and vendors.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Support FAA audits, surveillance activities, and regulatory inquiries.
- Ensure engineering activities align with the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action development.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Planning, and Flight Operations teams.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering staff, maintenance personnel, and reliability teams.
- Support strategic fleet initiatives including aircraft acquisitions, modifications, and performance improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aviation Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in aircraft engineering, fleet engineering, or technical services within a Part 121 airline, aircraft manufacturer, or major MRO.
- Strong knowledge of Airbus A320 aircraft systems and maintenance programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing aircraft airworthiness, configuration control, and maintenance program compliance.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations including 14 CFR Parts 121, 43, and 91.
- Experience with engineering documentation including ADs, SBs, EOs, and structural repairs.
- Experience using airline maintenance management systems such as TRAX, or similar systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and reliability data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Airbus A320 family engineering experience (A319/A320/A321).
- Prior experience in airline fleet engineering or technical services.
- Experience supporting aircraft modifications, STC installations, or structural repairs.
- Familiarity with Airbus technical documentation including AMM, SRM, FCOM, MPD, and TSM.
- Experience with aircraft inductions, lease transitions, or fleet expansion programs.
- Prior interaction with FAA regulators during engineering reviews or audits.
Work Environment
This position is based in Miami, Florida and supports a dynamic airline operational environment. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional after-hours support required for operational or AOG situations.
