THE TEAM
The Operational Planning Optimisation team plays a pivotal role within our wider Operational Planning function, driving the intelligence and innovation that shape our future flight programme. As part of this team, you will collaborate closely with our Optimisation Manager to help design a commercial flight schedule that is not only commercially compelling, but also safe, resilient, and operationally exceptional.
Through advanced simulation, modelling, and cross‑functional collaboration, you’ll connect commercial ambition with operational reality—bringing together experts from across the business to create schedules that enable our people and aircraft to perform at their best.
In this role, you will be at the heart of future‑focused decision‑making, leading the coordination of upcoming schedule activities and ensuring we deliver a programme that is easy and reliable for our customers.
THE ROLE
As an Operational Planning Optimisation Analyst, you’ll use a variety of analytical tools to collate and verify future schedules against operational parameters. You’ll model and calibrate future performance to ensure operational resilience, working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders to achieve the right balance between performance and commerciality. You’ll conduct research and development on concepts and initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
> Model and calibrate future performance to ensure operational resilience, including identifying impactful trends, firebreak volumes, and standby aircraft volumes
> Monitor in-season performance to identify emerging trends and link to future operations schedule parameters
> Research and develop operational initiatives and activities to ensure continuous improvement
> Drive ad‑hoc sprints that identify opportunities, propose solutions, and challenge current working assumptions across operations Drive trade‑off discussions between Commercial and Operations to support balanced, data‑driven decision‑making
What We’re Looking For
> Strategic analytical experience with a passion for detail and data-driven decision making
> Degree or post graduate qualification in a numerical or analytical subject, or equivalent business experience
> Meticulous attention to detail in all tasks undertaken
> Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office suite
> Experience in using MS SQL Studio, Python and Tableau
> Ability to use data modelling to drive business initiatives and improve operational performance
> Experience in Pairings Optimisation and OTP forecasting tool is desirable
> Ownership and Delivery: focused on results, working to targets, reviewing progress and adapting plans
> Customer and Shareholder Value: understands customer needs and prioritises safety
> Business Performance: understands business and external environment, is cost conscious and considers long-term implications

PRACTICALITIES
This full-time role will be based in Luton and will be 40 hours per week. We support hybrid working and we spend 60% of our time per month in the office.
