Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 12 years in manufacturing or manufacturing engineering, including five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Position Purpose:Manage the strategic development of the aircraft build process to include manufacturing build plan, manufacturing work instructions, configuration control, tooling requirements, lean manufacturing principles, systems and technical manufacturing support to vendors.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:
- Manage and develop strategy to ensure an efficient aircraft manufacturing and assembly process.
- Oversee the successful implementation of major projects and programs for the corporation and organization from a manufacturing engineering perspective.
- Manage the manufacturing engineering group to provide methodized work instructions for the aircraft build, define and build tooling requirements, create the product structure and implement lean manufacturing principles.
- Manage the change management/aircraft configuration group to establish aircraft effectivity for all production design changes and ensure major changes to the aircraft are implemented with minimum negative impact.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and long term operational requirements that include staffing, training, and other personnel requirements.
- Provide management with direction for new technologies and state of the art improvements to meet future corporate objectives, to include automation and advanced systems.
- Develop and monitor budget requirements ; Control expenditures to meet approved budgets .
- Provide subordinates with technical direction, management direction, and adequate training to ensure consistent quality and efficiency through job knowledge.
- Communicate with other organizations, sites, and suppliers to ensure consistency and quality in the manufacturing and data output.
- Monitor progress of all department activities and provide direction as needed to ensure safety, cost, quality, and schedule are achieved.
Additional Functions:
- Ensure training classes are attended by employees. .
- Review and authorize process specifications. .
Perform other duties as assigned.Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Tooling, Engineering configuration requirements, and Plant Safety (Safety Management Systems SMS).
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
