Position Summary
The Engineer Intern is responsible for development of and documentation on new project ideas, redesigning and improving existing processes, and continuously searching for improved quality and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities
Working on a team with equipment specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capability and Lean principles
Aid in the layout and organization of assembly cells and machining centers within the plan as assigned by the Engineering team
Generate and maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, including methods of flow through the use of CAD and PC based software
Create, design, detail and maintain jig, fixture and gauge documentation through use of CAD, fixture design and process improvement to flatten routings
Evaluate and address potential safety concerns on guarding and interlocking on machinery and equipment
Conducts routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes and completes required documentation by applying basic engineering planning by researching manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations
Recommends changes to refine and enhance products and process by applying continuous improvement principles and techniques
Consistently applies established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Provide technical support to help aid in assuring production requirements are met by interacting with employees on all levels
Must be able to work during the school year a minimum of 15-20 hours a week
Qualifications
Pursuing degree in mechanical or electrical engineering related technical discipline
Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the job typically acquired through one or more years of related experience
