JOB DESCRIPTION
Modern Data Engineer (Enterprise + Lakehouse + AI?Assisted)
Experience 5+ years working with data in a software or data engineering role
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in enterprise environments with a mix of on?prem and cloud technologies Core Technologies Strong SQL skills and data modeling experience (including star schema / dimensional models)
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server
- Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines using SSIS (or similar tools)
- Experience supporting analytics and reporting through Power BI
- Experience with Spark-based platforms, with Databricks Lakehouse as the primary future-state technology Data Engineering Skills Building, operating, and optimizing batch and/or streaming data pipelines
- Working with relational databases, data lakes, and NoSQL systems
- Transforming raw data into curated datasets that are easy to analyze and reusable
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or equivalent)
- Experience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows for data pipelines
- AI & Modern Engineering experience using AI tools or copilots to assist with data engineering tasks (SQL development, pipeline generation, testing, documentation)
- Familiarity with automation or AI agents to streamline engineering workflows is a plus
- Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with engineers and managers in the electric utility / operations domain Able to operate in a regulated, production-critical enterprise environment
