Pay $19.86/hour
What You'll Do:
As an Animal Tech - I, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for laboratory animals, ensuring their comfort and well-being while supporting research protocols. Your daily tasks will include cleaning habitats, feeding and watering animals, monitoring their health, collecting data, and assisting with laboratory procedures. You will work closely with senior staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and study requirements, contributing directly to innovative scientific advancements.
Required Skills:
- Previous experience handling animals, with a strong commitment to animal welfare
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work comfortably outdoors for extended periods
- Excellent attention to detail in data collection and reporting
- Strong organizational skills for stocking supplies and maintaining cleanliness
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Clear, cohesive communication in resume and experience summaries
Nice to Have Skills:
- AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level
- Experience working in a regulated laboratory setting
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Familiarity with biohazard and chemical waste disposal
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma; Associate’s Degree in Life Sciences preferred
- At least 1 year of related animal care or laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and in varying environmental conditions
- Candidates must not work or reside on a poultry farm during this assignment due to cross-contamination risks
- A commitment to responsible, reliable work habits with no history of frequent job hopping
