JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Engineering Technician will perform complex technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems and technical activities relating to product development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs engineering activities such as, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of electromechanical systems product,troubleshoot design circuitry, or specialized test equipment.
- Works from knowledge, skills and abilities to generate conceptual plans based on discussions, notional diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, or layouts to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions.
- Determines methods or actions to remedy complex malfunctions.
- Assesses designs, constructs, tests and verifies test equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree (AS) in Electronics Technology or related field, or equivalent electronics military schooling and experience required.
- Demonstrates proficiency (typically 4-6 years of direct experience in the duties and responsibilities of the position)
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Electrical/electronic circuit/component knowledge
- Intermediate knowledge of computer SW and operating systems
- Aerospace equipment test experience, such as DO-160 testing, preferred
- Aptitude in aircraft power electronics testing and troubleshooting, especially DO-160 qualification testing
- Experience in board level testing and component level troubleshooting, repair, and rework
- Experience in using computer based tools and procedures to perform, document and track testing
- Proficiencey to assemble, test and debug test fixtures utilizing formal and informal test procedures
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team structured environment and support extended business hours or weekends, as required.
- Aptitude to coordinate work effort with other groups as required
- Skill to coordinate with minimal supervision and high personal initiative
- Capacity to provide excellent project team support by completing tasks on time
- Talent for activelyly supporting company processes and procedures such as Safety, ESD, procurement and calibration of lab equipment
- Expertise to troubleshoot and fix switched mode power electronic circuitry down to the component level

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.
- An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test including cannabis screening.
Base salary range is $37.73 - $56.60 per hour. (Midpoint: $47.17) Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, certifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
