Thales Australia’s Trade Compliance function has an entry level position and is seeking an enthusiastic individual with interest and background in international trade. We are looking for those recent that have a keen desire to learn and develop knowledge and skills on the matters of import and export customs compliance, export and broader trade control regimes, namely Australian and U.S. export laws, and on application of economic sanctions and other global trade regulations.
The Trade Compliance Analyst (TCA) will be integral to the function’s objective in developing, improving and implementing the compliance program. They will also assist in development of recommendations and guidance to business operations by advising on international trade and customs requirements, while supporting businesses in their delivery of solutions to customers.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Trade Compliance Analyst, you will engage and support the following:
- Assist in the development and implementation of trade compliance programs to ensure conformity with global trade regulations
- Conduct research on export control regulations, customs regulations, and other international trade laws and policies, for example on Australian, U.S. (ITAR, EAR), European regulations with respect to both transfer of controlled technology, and customs requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering team and other cross-functional areas to review and classify products for export control classifications and customs tariff codes.
- Support export control activities by ensuring compliance through:
- identifying licensing requirements
- deciding if a licence is needed
- managing the licence application process
- implementing the licence requirements
- maintaining appropriate records
- Support the preparation of import/export documentation and compliance with customs formalities.
- Monitor and update internal documentation systems to ensure accurate and current documentation of trade compliance activities
- Assist with internal compliance reviews and audits; and conduct spot checks on processes and trade compliance data integrity
- Participate in training sessions to keep informed about the developments on international trade matters
- Assist in the resolution of any compliance issues, and respond to inquiries from the regulators
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
- Experience in analyzing and interpretation of government policy and regulations.
- Tertiary qualifications in international trade compliance, international business, international relations or other related disciplines
- Basic understanding of international trade laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise
- Attention to details and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office)
- Enthusiasm to learn and thrive in a dynamic regulatory environment

Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and (role dependent) medical checks. Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain Baseline security clearance.
