- Lead an exciting new aviation infrastructure build from the ground up.
- Be part of a flagship project shaping future capability in the Torres Strait.
- Take ownership of a complex, high‑visibility project with real autonomy.
About the Role
Babcock is seeking a unique project‑focused Project Manager that will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of new aviation infrastructure on Horn Island. This position sits within a supportive and highly trusted part of the business, reporting to the Head of Trade Controls, Security and Facilities for overall accountability, while working day‑to‑day with the Senior Project Manager in Facilities to drive outcomes and keep the project moving.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant end‑to‑end build, overseeing everything from early design and construction planning through to regulatory approvals, contractor management, physical security requirements, IT integration and on‑the‑ground coordination. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, contractors and internal teams to keep the project aligned, resolve issues quickly and ensure the facility meets operational, safety and environmental standards.
A key part of the role involves building strong relationships with local councils, regulatory bodies, Traditional Owners and community representatives. You’ll help navigate approvals, environmental considerations and compliance requirements, while ensuring the needs of Aviation stakeholders—across Operations, Engineering, Finance, Flight Operations and Continuing Airworthiness—are understood and incorporated into the final solution.
You’ll also play an important role in governance and risk management, preparing documentation for internal and external reviews, including board‑level reporting and gate approvals. With a continuous‑improvement mindset, you’ll look for opportunities to enhance processes, strengthen delivery and contribute to a safe, high‑performance culture throughout the project.
This is a rare chance to lead a meaningful infrastructure development in a unique location, working across diverse stakeholders and making a tangible impact on Babcock’s aviation capability in the Torres Strait. If you’re motivated by complex delivery, community engagement and hands‑on project leadership, this opportunity offers a compelling next step.
