Position Summary
The Import Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the importation of goods, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and coordinating with suppliers, customs brokers, and logistics providers. This role ensures timely delivery, cost efficiency, and accuracy in documentation and processes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor inbound international shipments.
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws.
- Prepare and review import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, etc.).
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance of goods.
- Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all import transactions.
- Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
- Analyze import costs and identify opportunities for savings.
- Ensure proper classification of goods and valuation.
- Support audits and compliance reviews.
- Mange import permits, licenses, and government authorizations as required.
- Validate and ensure tariff classification and duty calculations prior to customs submission.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with trade agreements.
- Maintain and update import compliance manuals and internal controls.
- Analyze shipment performance metrics (lead time, clearance time, cost variances) and report findings.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics and import processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in import/export or logistics coordination.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and international trade compliance.
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel preferred).
- Advanced English communication.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Knowledge of Incoterms.
