Position Summary
The Import Export Manager is responsible for overseeing all international trade operations, including import and export activities, ensuring compliance with global trade regulations, optimizing logistics processes, and managing relationships with external partners. This role drives efficiency, cost control, and compliance across the international supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all import and export operations across multiple regions.
- Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize logistics costs and transit times.
- Oversee customs clearance processes and manage relationships with customs brokers.
- Monitor global shipments and resolve escalations or delays.
- Manage trade documentation accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and finance teams.
- Analyze trade data and provide insights for decision-making.
- Ensure proper classification, valuation, and country of origin declarations.
- Support audits and regulatory inspections.
- Define and implement international trade strategies aligned with business expansion and sourcing objectives.
- Oversee trade compliance trade risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for regulatory exposure.
- Evaluate geopolitical, regulatory and economic changes impacting global trade flows.
- Implement KPIs to monitor performance (Cost per shipment, clearance, time, service levels).
- Lead internal and external audits related to trade compliance and implement corrective actions.
- Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions
- Drive continues improvement using Lean processes.
- Ensure integration of trade compliance requirements in new product launches and market expansions.
- Strong knowledge of Tributary regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 10 years of general experience in logistics, Import/Export.
- 4 years in management positions or international logistics.
- Strong knowledge of global trade compliance and customs regulations.
- Experience managing brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.
- Experience in “Manufacturing / Maquiladora” environment.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Fluent in English. C1 or higher.
- Knowledge of trade agreements.
- Experience with Incoterms and global shipping strategies.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
