Product Program Manager
The PPM manages products from introduction, through the complete production lifecycle, to end of life. The PPM works with Sales, Engineering, Material Planning / Scheduling, Subcontracts, Procurement, and Manufacturing departments to ensure execution is on time and within budget. The individual assists in process and design improvements that reduce the cost and/or improve the reliability of assigned products. The PPM functions as the point-of-contact between Sales, Engineering, Management, the Customer, Supply Chain/suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts to ensure successful resolutions of program and in-service issues including failure investigations to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions.
What You’ll Do:
- Develops and maintains reasonable technical understanding of assigned products, typically electromechanical aerospace assemblies.
- Manages all change and improvement activities associated with assigned, moderately complex or moderate volume products or a lesser quantity of complex and high-volume products.
- Coordinates process improvements and design improvements that reduce the cost of assigned products.
- Manages all change and improvement activities associated with assigned, moderately complex and moderate volume products. Develops plans to the extent needed for the situation and ensures the plan is communicated to all involved parties and resources are allocated. May oversee development of analysis and test data to support customer approvals of changes.
- Monitors and reports production yield data, taking proactive steps to address issues that are affecting product Yield in Operations or at suppliers. Works as a member of cross functional teams tasked with improving Yield. Communicates performance and steps taken to meet Yield targets for assigned products.
- Monitors and reports product field performance data, taking proactive steps to address issues affecting product reliability including resolution of quality escapes and field failures.
- Leads or supports failure investigations that include identifying the root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions. Evaluates field return data to identify failure trends and take appropriate action.
- Monitors performance to budget.
- Coordinates process and design improvements that reduce the cost of assigned products.
- Maintains and tracks action item lists and due dates.
- Manages risks and opportunities.
- Composes monthly program review materials to summarize and communicate activity and performance of assigned products.
- Supports and may lead continuous improvement by adhering to company processes and utilizing standardization tools as applicable.
- Develop and maintain metrics associated with production and product field returns
Customer Engagement
- Primary interface with customers on technical issues
- Provide support to Customer Account Specialists in managing customer demand and orders
- Prepare and deliver program status reports
- Supports customer approval of changes, as well as other customer program reporting requirements.

Qualifications Required
- BS/BA degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience in Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, or other related functions.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite

Work Environment
- Business is conducted in English with working documents written in English.
- This is an on-site position.
- Office environment, where noise level is usually moderate.
- The level of responsibility may induce a certain level of stress.
Travel to suppliers, customers, or other Astronics locations, about 5% of the time.
