Role Introduction
Reports to: Assistant Learning Manager – Airport Services
This role is responsible for the design and delivery of airport passenger and ramp handling training programmes (functional, technical, service, leadership) across Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and our regional ports.
As the learning specialist, you will ensure frontline airport teams and airport leaders have the required technical and behavioural competencies to carry out core duties according to operational and service standards, as well as enabling port Trainers, Training Coordinators and Airport Leaders to implement effective training programmes to their audience.
You will be an ambassador of Cathay Academy and should extend world-class service to programme participants in line with Cathay’s service excellence culture. You will be driving the learning journeys of the assigned subject matter for all participants, contributing a big part to the experience that we aspire to provide for all participants from new joiners to seasoned practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver functional, technical and service programmes system wide for above and below the wings airport frontline employees and ground handling agents
- Deliver train-the-trainer certification courses for ground handling agent trainers, and conduct supplier training / trainer audit programmes
- Actively liaise with local port training coordinator to identify local needs and support learning plans
- Participate in design and delivery of new training programmes, leveraging digital learning technologies
- Lead cutover training projects and deliver cutover trainings to ensure effective launch of new stations, change of suppliers, and seasonal relaunches
- Participate in on-the-job experience programme and support the line operations
- Monitor mandatory training completion for the assigned region(s), and follow up with port leaders
Requirements
- 5+ years of airport passenger and/or ramp/baggage handling experience (supervisory experience or above preferred)
- Sound airport operational knowledge – above and/or below-the-wings
- Role model of customer service, operational and safety excellence
- Strong personal presence and verbal / non-verbal communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in Putonghua would be advantageous
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and organising skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and acts as a supportive team player
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Willingness to occasionally work during irregular hours
- Willingness to work occasionally during rest days and public holidays (compensatory day off will be given in lieu)
