The CDS&AI team is seeking a Data Scientist to contribute to the development and delivery of data-driven solutions that improve commercial and operational performance. In this role, you will work within a collaborative team environment to translate business problems into analytical solutions, with opportunities to grow into owning end-to-end projects over time.
Primary Functions
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of models and analytical tools (e.g., forecasting, optimization, performance measurement)
- Partner with senior data scientists and business stakeholders to identify key business problems and generate actionable insights
- Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and data assets to support analytics and modeling workflows
- Apply statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to solve business problems
- Support model monitoring, validation, and performance tracking
- Translate analytical findings into clear, digestible insights for stakeholders
- Contribute to ad hoc analyses, including support for executive-level requests
- Collaborate closely with teammates while developing the skills to independently drive analytical workstreams
- Shape business decisions by translating analytical findings into clear, data-driven insights and recommendations for stakeholders
- Operate with urgency and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, effectively balancing multiple priorities and evolving business needs
- Demonstrate curiosity and a growth mindset, proactively seeking opportunities to deepen domain expertise and take increasing ownership of analytical work
- Interest in becoming an airline domain expert
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- 3–5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative field
- Demonstrated experience working on end-to-end analytical problems, from data preparation through insight generation
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, and familiarity with common machine learning libraries
- Hands-on experience with data engineering concepts, including building and maintaining data pipelines, working with large datasets, and managing data transformations
- Familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git), code organization, and reproducibility
- Experience using agentic AI tools or coding assistants (e.g., Kiro, Amazon Q, GitHub Copilot) to improve development productivity
- Exposure to machine learning and/or GenAI/LLM use cases
- Ability to communicate analytical results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field
- Experience building or maintaining production-grade data pipelines or data products
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and modern data ecosystems
- Exposure to deploying models or analytics solutions in a production environment
- Familiarity with MLOps concepts (model versioning, monitoring, CI/CD workflows)
- Experience with visualization tools and storytelling
- Demonstrated curiosity and a strong desire to grow into more complex problem-solving and independent ownership
