Johnson Service Group is looking for a Assistant Civil Engineer for our client in San Jose. This role will support key water infrastructure improvement projects. Responsibilities include preparing engineering analyses, calculations, design documents, reports, and technical evaluations, as well as supporting construction management through submittal reviews, RFIs, and design clarifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering and construction management teams on active water infrastructure projects
- Prepare engineering analyses, designs, calculations, reports, and technical documentation
- Assist in developing and interpreting engineering designs and specifications
- Provide design clarifications and respond to construction-related RFIs
- Review and support construction submittals for compliance with design intent
- Assist with project coordination, documentation, and reporting activities
- Support project delivery from planning through construction phases
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
- Valid California driver’s license
- Level 1- no experience required
- Level 2- Two (2) years of professional engineering experience in water infrastructure improvement projects or related civil engineering work
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of project management principles as applied to planning, design, cost estimating, construction, installation, and inspection of infrastructure projects
- Ability to research complex engineering issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop sound recommendations
- Experience preparing and presenting technical reports and staff-level documentation
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and concepts related to water infrastructure, water treatment systems, and/or water quality processes
- Familiarity with construction support activities including submittals, RFIs, and design interpretation during construction
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
6 month Contract $44.62 to $49.23/hr full-time
