This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled team supporting one of the United Kingdom’s most important naval facilities. Working within the Shiplift Facility, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving critical electrical systems that support defence operations. The role
As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and inspecting electrical systems and equipment within the Shiplift Facility. Your work will directly support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of key defence infrastructure, ensuring essential assets remain available when they are needed most.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work across Shiplift systems and equipment.
- Identifying, diagnosing and rectifying system faults, defects and equipment issues to maximise operational availability.
- Following established engineering processes while contributing ideas to improve performance, efficiency and productivity.
- Working safely in accordance with health and safety legislation, safe systems of work and control of work procedures.
- Supporting maintenance activities across the wider estate when required.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde. Set working times are 07:15 to 16:45, Monday to Thursday.
Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter
- Experience within a marine, industrial engineering or electrical maintenance environment.
- Confidence working at height, in confined spaces and in varied weather conditions.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and carry out fault-finding activities.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering standards.
- Experience of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work, alongside excellent teamwork skills
Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter:
- Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ, City & Guilds equivalent), or HNC or above in an Electrical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
