The engineering department at HS Marston is responsible for execution of product requirements (technical and all other deliverables) for heat exchangers and fluid management products. The department has responsibility for the products’ technical requirements, cost targets, producibility and maintainability. The department has ownership of the components throughout the life cycle of the program including design, development, qualification, production, and in-service phases.

Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Engineering (HoE) to join us. This HoE will have primary responsibility of the Engineering and Test functions to ensure successful introduction of business growth enabling technologies and new product development. This role is directly responsible for the budget, schedule and manpower required to meet the company, product line and department needs.
The HoE is expected to have strong collaboration with the product line and customer value stream leads and Power & Controls engineering function. This role reports directly to the General Manager & Heat Transfer Product line Value Stream leader and provides key input for engineering to support the yearly Strategic Financial Plan.

Duties include:
- NPI, Technology and R&D, Production support (producibility), Product support (service), Cost reduction
- Budgeting & engineering program scheduling
- Execution of engineering quality, on-time delivery, & budget performance
- Support the Heat Transfer& Fluids Management product line strategy
- Cultivating technical expertise within the team to advance product line technology and drive the technology roadmap.
- Managing budget allocation and funding requests for the product line, while ensuring adherence to allocated budgets and facilitating any necessary adjustments.
- Works with internal and external stakeholders to assign resources to projects/programmes and ensure timely progress
- Provide engineering input into new business opportunities with the business development and the Value Streams
- Identifying opportunities for R&D external funding to support the technology roadmap in alignment with our Applied Research & Technology (ART) team.
- Build, nurture and maintains internal and external customer relationships to anticipate future product needs.
- Develop & manage the creation & maturation of core technologies, processes and tools in support of the technology roadmap and product line strategy
In addition, you will be responsible for motivation & development of the team including;
- Managing human capital necessary to achieve the engineering goals
- Responsible for organizational design & effectiveness
- Development of talent for succession planning of leadership roles & technical expertise
- Fostering a positive and collaborative culture across functions, sites, and stakeholders.
- Providing technical guidance & support to the engineering team
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong people and technical leadership skills
- Strategic planning and ability to build capability within a department through mentoring / coaching
- Strong organization & communication skills, at all levels
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline
- Knowledge of equipment design and its integration within a complex system, preferably in Aerospace
- Familiar with LEAN principles and experience of their implementation within a Design and Test environment
- Some travel may be required and flexible working hours to support different time zones.
