The Senior Manager, Technology Operations – Freight is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the technology roadmap across a portfolio of products and their underlying systems withing the Freight business domain. This position brings together the operations and data business areas to facilitate technology-enabled transformation, leading
Technical operational specialists ensuring alignment with long-term goals and the broader technology strategy. The portfolio includes legacy platforms and future modernisation for emerging AI and automation opportunities that will reshape how these business areas operate. You'll report to the Head of Freight Technology and be accountable for delivering a roadmap that is secure, resilient, and commercially sound.
The role involves close collaboration with senior stakeholders across the Qantas Group, including Executive Managers, Heads of, Product Owners, Service Delivery, Project Delivery and technical teams to define, assess, and prioritise product strategies and delivery plans. A key focus is ensuring Services products are secure, resilient, and meet service levels by design.
The Senior Manager Technology also plays a critical role in rebuilding and energising a team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture. With a customer-centric mindset, this leader drives continuous improvement across cross-functional teams. Critically, this role is about transformation, not just maintenance. You will lead the technology function for large-scale system implementations emergent technology, while supporting the ongoing management of Freight Operations Technology.
You’ll have:
- 10+ years leading technology in large enterprise environments.
- Strong demonstrated experience in Technology Operations Management
- Experience leading deep complex systems, platform applications, migrations and modernisation implementations.
- Comprehensive experience in Software Delivery Lifecycle and Digital / Technology transformation, and Technology Service Management.
- Skilled at stakeholder management across business and technical areas.
- Strong commercial and partner management skills.
- Financially astute with emphasis on business results.
- Proficient in negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Experience in coaching and modelling Agile mind-set and ways of working.
- Strong ability to influence, motivate, and drive change & innovation.
- Freight, Logistics, Transport domain experience preferred.
- Experienced in software delivery, digital transformation, and service management.
- Knowledgeable in resilience, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
- Strong strategic problem-solving, people leadership, and Agile coaching abilities.
